Hamas just made it crystal clear: they are not disarming. Not now, not later, not ever—unless the world hands them a fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. And now, thanks to the blundering decisions of France and Canada, that dream is no longer just a distant fantasy. It’s suddenly a diplomatic talking point. This isn’t just bad policy. It’s idiocy on an international scale.
And make no mistake, Hamas will NEVER give up their arms – keep in mind they have not ever negotiated in good faith, their integrity is garbage.
Hamas Doubles Down
Let’s not forget who we’re dealing with here. Hamas is the group that launched one of the bloodiest terror attacks in recent Israeli history on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 innocent people and taking 251 hostages. Their militants dragged women and children back into Gaza tunnels like trophies of war. And now, while the world begs for a ceasefire, Hamas stands up and says, “Sure, we’ll stop—once we’re handed a sovereign state.”
They even went out of their way to correct reports that they were considering disarmament. No, they said, there will be no yielding the “right to resistance and weapons” until Israel caves and gives them exactly what they want.
And just when Israel finally had the moral clarity to demand that Hamas disarm as a condition for peace, France and Canada shoved a wrench into the gears.
The Diplomatic Meltdown: France, Canada, and the UK
It’s hard to overstate the recklessness of what France and Canada just did. With the war still raging, 50 hostages still trapped underground in Hamas tunnels, and the group refusing to lay down arms, these countries are openly discussing recognizing Palestinian statehood at the United Nations this September.
Let that sink in: they are rewarding terrorists while the victims are still bleeding.
Hamas was finally beat up enough that they were considering surrender. They had few options, and we were finally close to peace in the region. Now they have an option. Now they have a voice in the global discussion that might even preclude further actions by Israel. France, Canada and the UK have just prolonged this war. Stupid.
French President Emmanuel Macron said, “Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine.” Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney echoed this absurdity, saying, “The deepening suffering of civilians leaves no room for delay.” Even the UK, under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, threatened to follow suit unless Israel meets certain conditions.
They’re all pretending this is some brilliant peace initiative. But what it really does is hand Hamas the leverage they’ve been dying for—literally. They now have a wedge to split the international community, stall ceasefire talks, and drag this war out even longer. It’s not diplomacy. It’s diplomatic malpractice.
The United States Holds the Line—For Now
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff visited Israel this week and made it plain: Hamas needs to release the hostages and stop the propaganda. The U.S. isn’t budging on its stance that Hamas must be sidelined, disarmed, and cut out of any future Palestinian state.
President Trump, never one to pull punches, blasted Canada’s announcement on Truth Social: “Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio slammed the moves as “reckless” and “nothing more than propaganda for Hamas.” Finally, some common sense.
Recognizing a Palestinian state now—while Hamas is still holding hostages, still armed, and still broadcasting videos of emaciated prisoners—does not promote peace. It undermines it. It teaches future terrorists around the world that if you spill enough blood and scream loud enough, you’ll get a flag, a seat at the U.N., and diplomatic recognition.
Netanyahu was right to call it a reward for monstrous terrorism. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum said it best: “Recognizing a Palestinian state while 50 hostages remain trapped in Hamas tunnels amounts to rewarding terrorism… a dangerous moral and political failure.”
The Bottom Line: Stupid, Stupid, Stupid
France and Canada may think they’re playing peacemakers. In reality, they’re playing right into Hamas’s hands. Hamas will never disarm voluntarily. They are not interested in coexisting. They are interested in power. And now, with international recognition dangling in front of them, they have every incentive to drag this war out, manipulate public opinion, and keep terror alive.
This isn’t peace. It’s capitulation.
And it’s stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
NP Editor: Stupid.
