El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele Roasts the United States for Grand Jury’s Indictment of Donald Trump

The United States reached new Banana Republic-levels of despotism when a Manhattan grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump over payments he made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence allegations of an extramarital sexual escapade with porn star Stormy Daniels.

This news caught the attention of international leaders like El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele who sharply criticized the indictment.

Bukele initially tweeted, “Imagine if this happened to a leading opposition presidential candidate here in El Salvador.”

He then continued, “Sadly, it’ll be very hard for US Foreign Policy to use arguments such as ‘democracy’ and ‘free and fair elections’ or try to condemn ‘political prosecution’ in other countries, from now on.” The US is notorious for pounding its chest about human rights and using it as  criteria for shaping its relations with foreign abroad.

Bukele has been a vocal critic of the Biden regime due to the increased scrutiny the Salvadoran government has received in recent years over its stringent law & order policies. BLP previously reported on Bukele’s criticism of the US over his war against criminal gangs such as MS-13.

Since he was elected in 2019, Bukele has made it a point to restore order in his country. In recent years, El Salvador has been one of the most corrupt and violent countries on the planet. As a result, a leader like Bukele could capitalize on this discontent to come into power and impose a public order agenda.

At the rate things are going, the US is descending into Third World status, as crime rises and its government grows more tyrannical. On the other hand, El Salvador appears to be on the come-up with it beginning to embrace Bitcoin and starting to take the fight to criminal entities.

Who knows, the US may end up having to learn a thing or two from El Salvador in terms of how it manages socio-economic problems.
