Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) joined “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday to discuss his recent push to ban all land purchases by the Chinese Communist government, calling for a “flat ban.”
“So one of the challenges in Florida, so many people have moved here, but real estate prices have gotten really high,” Tucker asked the governor. “Foreign countries, China specifically buying up more real estate doesn’t help any American. This is happening in other states as well. What is your idea for dealing with this?”
“We want no CCP land purchases, and obviously, they are not going to do it directly,” DeSantis explained, as reported by Breitbart. “They will have shell companies, so we’re going to have to have a system in place to scrutinize this. But why would we want them buying farmland? They had very little farmland in the United States, even 10 years ago.”
“Now they have significant holdings, not as much in Florida, but you do have it in other parts of the country,” the Florida governor said. “Why would we want the CCP to own land near a military base or own critical infrastructure?”
“So we’re looking for a flat ban, and so we’re going to work with the Florida Legislature to get that done,” he continued. “Tucker, American policymakers for a generation have been empowering the CCP. They said it would end up working out. China would become a democracy.”
“In fact, this is a very serious threat to our country,” DeSantis emphasized, asking, “Why would we want them to have even more influence over American society than they already do?”
A similar effort was launched by 2024 presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump on Wednesday in a message from Truth Social, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
“China is buying up our country,” the 2024 presidential candidate began. “While corrupt Democrats and RINO-type politicians in Washington have been spending trillions of dollars on the green new deal nonsense, foolish foreign wars, and providing lavish benefits to illegal aliens all from over the planet, China has been spending trillions of dollars to take over the crown jewels of the United States economy. And they are doing that.”
“China is buying up our technology, they are buying up food supplies, they are buying up our farmland, they are buying up our minerals and natural resources, they are buying up our ports and shipping terminals, and with the help of a corrupt influence peddler like the Biden Crime Family, China is even trying to buy up the pillars of the US energy industry because frankly Biden and the group don’t care about real energy,” he explained. “They only care about nonsense energy. Energy that doesn’t work and it never will.”
“Like I’ve long said economic security is national security,” Trump continued in his message posted to Truth Social. “China does not allow American companies to take over their critical infrastructure and America shouldn’t allow China to take over our critical infrastructure. I didn’t allow it when I was president and I won’t allow it when we become president again.”
It is becoming clear that some of the biggest names in the Republican Party are taking notice of Communist China’s activities in-country and are more than willing to exercise their political power to put an end to it. Other state governors should take both DeSantis’ and Trump’s lead and ban the Chinese government and its various entities from buying land in the United States.
