One of the most influential and powerful lobbyists in Florida, and father of a prominent far-left Democrat lawmaker, recently gave a suspicious max donation to Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign.
According to the most recent campaign finance filings with the FEC, lobbyist Ron Book gave a $6,600 contribution to Ron DeSantis for President 2024.
Book founded his ‘government relations’ firm, Ronald L. Book, PA, in 1987, and currently serves as president and CEO of the group. According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Book represented many powerful public and private interests throughout the 2022 legislative session in Florida, including AT&T, Equifax, the Florida Power Light Co., Memorial Healthcare, Broward Health, the cities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the University of Miami, the media conglomerate Gannett, Miami-Dade Public Schools, and the Broward County government.
Book’s team raked in $2.7 million in 2021, which was split across his team of three lobbyists at his firm. Florida Politics stated in their reporting on lobbyist disclosures that Book’s team features “the highest per-lobbyist earnings in the state” on a consistent basis.
Book’s daughter, Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book, is one of the most powerful far-left Democrats currently elected in the state of Florida. Book was arrested several months ago protesting a so-called abortion ban in a stunt coordinated by local chapters of Planned Parenthood.
This is not the first time that Florida’s Democrat-affiliated lobbying class has given substantial donations to DeSantis’ presidential campaign.
Investigative journalist Laura Loomer reported that Florida lobbyist Jeff Hartley recently gave a maximum donation to DeSantis’ presidential campaign as well. Hartley’s lobbying firm, Smith, Bryan and Myers, has represented Everytown for Gun Safety, the astroturf anti-2A organization bankrolled by billionaire Mike Bloomberg. Hartley also lobbies for Anheuser Busch, the parent company behind Bud Light, and Walt Disney World.
DeSantis’ connections with Democrats do not end there. He appointed COVID thug and liberal democrat David Kerner, a Palm Beach commissioner, to head Florida’s State Department of Motor Vehicles earlier this year.
“I am honored and deeply thankful to Governor DeSantis for the nomination and to the Florida Cabinet for the vote of approval,” Kerner said after he was appointed to the post.
Trump confidant Roger Stone noted that the tandem of DeSantis and Kerner “aggressively pushed the Senior Citizen community in Palm Beach County jointly boasting of a 40% vaccination rate among seniors” while using the “Palm Beach County COVID-19 Vaccination Compliance Task Force as a jackbooted, uniformed gestapo-like strike-force terrorizing businesses and harassing individual citizens,” which even included a “Snitch Line” to encourage Florida residents to report their neighbors for lockdown violations.
Looking at how Democrats are coalescing around DeSantis and combining that with his immense backing from the RINO establishment donor class, it is clear that DeSantis is the candidate of the globalist Uni-party who will owe many favors to the wealthy elites if he is elected to higher office.
