Fox News host Tucker Carlson has parted ways with the network. The network announced Carlson’s departure in a statement published Monday, April 24.
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 2,” the statement said. “Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
The change comes days after Fox News settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit.
Carlson is not the only popular personality leaving a network. Former host Don Lemon says CNN fired him.
The network pushed back against Lemon’s tweet, saying he had, in fact, been given an opportunity to meet with management.
CNN also released a statement from its CEO saying, “CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
Lemon has received public criticism over his behavior in recent months. In early April, a Variety report alleged that Lemon had disrespected female colleagues after interviewing former and current employees, who were not named.
In February, Lemon apologized after saying on air that 51-year-old Nikki Haley was not “in her prime.” And that women in the 20s, 30s and 40s are.
