Police Officer Shot, In ‘Extremely critical Condition’. A Police officer from the Memphis Police Department is in “extremely critical condition’ in a hospital after being shot. The shooting suspect was allegedly killed by gunfire.
The shooting took place inside the White Station Library, after Officers were dispatched there, according to the Memphis Police Department.
The Police Department states that the shooting originated when police officers responded to a trespassing call reported by business near the library.
According to Investigators the person that the officers were called about was identified as Torence Jackson Jr., 28.
The Memphis Police Department says that Jackson pulled a weapon and fired a shot that struck one of the police officers, and then the second Police Officer returned fire which hit Jackson.
The shooting suspect died at the scene.
Further investigation reportedly revealed Indiana court records, showing the the suspect had been arrested more than 30 times in Indiana for different offenses.
His record of criminal charges included robbery, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, battery with a deadly weapon, possession of and dealing marijuana.
According to The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy asked them to investigate the shooting incident.
The police officer that was shot was transported to a Hospital in critical condition. Latest reports are that the police officer is still in “extremely critical condition”.
The identity of the injured Police Officer has not been released.
