Cheer Coach Arrested On Rape, Battery Charges After Having Sex With Student More Than 300 Times

Moore, OK – An Oklahoma high school and junior high cheerleading coach has been charged with rape and battery after she allegedly had sex with her daughter’s onetime boyfriend more than 300 times over a five-year period.

Moore Public Schools (MPS) confirmed the arrest of 45-year-old Westmoore High School and Brink Junior High Cheerleading Coach Jennifer Hawkins and said she was “immediately fired” as a result of the allegations, KOKH reported.

“Once we were made aware of the situation Hawkins was immediately fired from working at Moore Public Schools,” MPS said. “The safety and security of MPS students and employees is our foremost concern. MPS school officials will continue to assist law enforcement in their investigation of this matter.”

According to an arrest affidavit, the investigation into Hawkins began in January after the victim sent MPS “a detailed letter… disclosing his sexual relationship” with her.

The victim said the sexual encounters between him and Hawkins began when he was 16 years old, and that he would go to her home “several days of the week to have sex,” the document read.

He said he met Hawkins because he was initially dating her daughter, who is his age.

The victim was also a student at MPS.

According to the affidavit, the victim said Hawkins “began prompting him for a sexual relationship” soon after they met, with the first incident occurring in August of 2017.

The victim said he was watching a soccer game with Hawkins in her living room when she began giving him a “handjob,” police said.

He told investigators Hawkins told him “he would remember that soccer match for the rest of his life,” according to court documents.

“[The victim] stated during his sophomore year alone he would get picked up by Jennifer during lunch, driven to [her home,] and have sex. [The victim] stated he would then return to school,” investigators said. “[The victim] estimated he had sex with Jennifer three hundred plus times…”

The victim, now 21, told investigators the sexual encounters between him and Hawkins continued for five years before coming to an end in 2022, according to the affidavit.

The period of time he was a student at MPS while the sexual encounters were also taking place occurred between 2017 and 2019, investigators said.

The victim provided investigators with text message conversations between him and Hawkins, including some from 2022 when she allegedly became “angry” because he had been “messaging and observing other females on social media,” police said.

“During the conversations, [the victim] told Jennifer, ‘I want you in my life I just don’t want a romantic relationship,” according to the affidavit.

After receiving the initial letter from the victim, the MPS director of safety and security met with Hawkins along with several other MPS staff members, police said.

Hawkins told MPS officials the victim had lived with her for a couple of years prior to October of 2022, at which point “ties were cut,” the affidavit read.

“Jennifer at first denied being in a sexual relationship with [the victim],” according to the document. “Jennifer then admitted she made a mistake and began crying and admitted to having been in a sexual relationship with [the victim].”

When she was asked how many times she had sex with the boy, “she repeatedly stated, ‘no clue’ indicating numerous times,” police said.

She also noted that she and the then-16-year-old victim talked about his age when they began having sex “and how their relationship would seem odd or inappropriate to other people,” according to the affidavit.

The cheerleading coach was fired by MPS on Jan. 27, KFOR reported.

Hawkins was arrested on Wednesday and is now facing charges of rape and sexual battery.

“Even though [Victim] is over the age of 16 which is the age of consent in Oklahoma, the statute reads if he is between 16 and 20 and [Hawkins] is an employee at the same school system, which is what the law read at the time, then it is a crime for her to have a sexual relationship with him,” District 21 Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Austin told KFOR.

“This victim came forward after he was finally able to move away from this individual and realize that what had gone on was wrong,” Austin added.

In addition to her role at MPS, Hawkins was also a cheerleading coach at the University of Central Oklahoma, KFOR reported.

She resigned from that position on Jan. 26 for personal reasons, according to the university.
