Rep. Ilhan Omar was removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee today, but not before Democrats could throw a hissy fit on the House floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the verbal vote on the resolution to strip Omar of her committee assignment, Democrats, who opposed the measure, screamed in response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wild moment was just one of many during the debate over Rep. Omar\u2019s committee assignments, which included a wild performance from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who waved her arms in the air excitedly as she accused Republicans of racism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“One of the disgusting legacies after 9\/11 has been the targeting and racism against Muslim Americans throughout the United States of America and this is an extension of that legacy,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez shouted. \u201cThere is nothing consistent with the Republican Party\u2019s continued attack except for the racism and incitement of violence against women of color in this body.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AOC\u2019s claim of racism is bizarre considering Speaker Kevin McCarthy kicked two white men, Representatives Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff off of their committees as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite their protests, Democrats failed to block the resolution, which passed 218-211.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
