{"id":691,"date":"2023-01-24T07:07:48","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T12:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=691"},"modified":"2023-01-24T07:07:49","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T12:07:49","slug":"kamala-harris-leaves-god-and-right-to-life-out-of-the-declaration-of-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=691","title":{"rendered":"Kamala Harris Leaves God and Right to Life Out of the Declaration of Independence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kamala Harris omitted God and the \u201cright to life\u201d when she quoted the Declaration of Independence in a speech Sunday marking the 50<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;anniversary of&nbsp;<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biden administration leader only mentioned the rights to \u201cliberty and the pursuit of happiness\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2023\/01\/22\/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-on-the-50th-anniversary-of-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in her address<\/a>&nbsp;to a crowd of abortion activists in Tallahassee, Florida. She also insisted that aborting unborn babies for any reason without limits is a \u201cfundamental right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast June, the United States Supreme Court took away that constitutional right \u2014 a fundamental right, a basic freedom from the people of America, from the women of America,\u201d Harris said, referring to the&nbsp;<em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em>&nbsp;ruling that overturned&nbsp;<em>Roe<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, she continued: \u201cSo we are here together because we collectively believe and know America is a promise \u2026 of freedom and liberty \u2014 not for some, but for all. A promise we made in the Declaration of Independence that we are each \u2018endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Harris omitted several key phrases from the quote. The Declaration of Independence\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/founding-docs\/declaration-transcript\" target=\"_blank\">states<\/a>, \u201cWe hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The American founders listed the right to life first because life is the most fundamental right of all. Without it, no other right can exist. Under&nbsp;<em>Roe<\/em>, abortions destroyed that fundamental right for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2023\/01\/16\/march-for-life-will-mourn-50-years-of-legalized-abortion-killing-64-million-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 64 million unborn babies<\/a>, and only now that&nbsp;<em>Roe<\/em>&nbsp;has been overturned may states again protect the right to life for all human beings, born and unborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harris also left out the phrase that says rights are \u201cendowed by their Creator,\u201d or God, and she did so intentionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBe clear: These rights were not bestowed upon us. They belong to us as Americans,\u201d she told the pro-abortion crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afterward, Republican commentator Matt Whitlock said Harris\u2019s omissions show just how indefensible her pro-abortion position is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis point is obvious but when the \u2018right to life\u2019 blows up your message so bad you have to pretend it&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;exist then maybe your message&nbsp;isn\u2019t&nbsp;very good,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattdizwhitlock\/status\/1617533397756411908\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Whitlock wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the Supreme Court overturned&nbsp;<em>Roe<\/em>, 14 states have begun protecting unborn babies from abortion and more are fighting in court to do so. Pro-life leaders estimate tens of thousands of unborn babies\u2019 lives already have been saved as a result of state pro-life laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two new polls show growing public support for legal protections for unborn babies. Last week,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2023\/01\/18\/poll-shows-69-of-americans-want-abortions-banned-or-limited\/\" target=\"_blank\">a Marist College poll<\/a>\u00a0found 69 percent of Americans support limiting or banning abortions, up from 62 percent in June.
