House Oversight Chairman James Comer<\/a> (R-KY) is requesting unfettered access to documents that show communications between President Joe Biden\u2019s<\/a> office when he was vice president and his son Hunter<\/a>\u2018s business partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A letter<\/a> sent on Wednesday to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) said Comer\u2019s panel seeks \u201cunrestricted special access\u201d to records that have already been released<\/a> with redactions pursuant to the Presidential Records Act and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The records were posted to NARA\u2019s website in response to FOIA litigation brought by America First Legal, a group led by Stephen Miller, who served as an adviser to former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comer said the \u201ccomplete\u201d versions of the documents are relevant to his committee\u2019s investigation into the Biden family and provided a list of specific requests that he asked to be fulfilled by September 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chairman noted some exchanges that have already drawn interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor example, on December 4, 2015, at 10:45 a.m. \u2014 in an email with the subject of \u2018Quotes\u2019\u2014Eric Schwerin (a longtime Biden family business associate) wrote to Kate Bedingfield in the Office of the Vice President providing quotes the White House should use in response to media outreach regarding Hunter Biden\u2019s role in Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLater that day \u2014 at 2:30 p.m. \u2014 Ms. Bedingfield responded to Mr. Schwerin saying, \u2018VP signed off on this[.]\u2019  The timing of this email traffic is concerning to the Committee,\u201d the letter added, noting that according to recent testimony<\/a> by another Biden family associate Devon Archer, \u201cafter a Burisma board of directors meeting in Dubai \u2014 on the evening of December 4, 2015 (midday in
Washington, D.C.) \u2014 Hunter Biden \u2018called D.C.\u2019 to discuss pressure that Burisma asked him to relieve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to communications between the elder Biden\u2019s vice presidential office and particular individuals known to have been associates of Hunter, including at Ukrainian energy company Burisma, Comer pressed NARA to provide all executive calendars for then-Vice President Biden dating from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017 \u2014 the entire duration of the Obama administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Daily Wire reached out to NARA seeking comment on the letter and an update on the agency\u2019s response to Comer\u2019s last documents request about President Biden\u2019s alleged use of a fake name<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A NARA spokesperson said the agency received Comer\u2019s request and \u201cwill respond in accordance with the Presidential Records Act (PRA), NARA\u2019s implementing regulations, and the governing Executive Order.\u201d NARA also provided a link<\/a> to a press release discussing the process for how the agency deals with a \u201cspecial access request.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years, Joe Biden claimed to have never spoken to Hunter about his business dealings, but as the oversight panel uncovered more evidence, the White House has taken to saying the elder Biden never did business with his son \u2014 who is facing a criminal inquiry<\/a> now led by a special counsel. Although Democrats have repeatedly attacked<\/a> Comer\u2019s probe, it may soon feed into an impeachment inquiry<\/a> over allegations of corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJoe Biden never built an \u2018absolute wall\u2019 between his family\u2019s business dealings and his official government work \u2013 his office doors were wide open to Hunter Biden\u2019s associates. There is evidence of collusion in the efforts to spin media stories about Burisma\u2019s corruption while Vice President Biden was publicly pushing an anti-corruption agenda in Ukraine,\u201d Comer said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuspiciously, Hunter Biden\u2019s associate had a media statement on Burisma approved by Vice President Biden himself the same day Hunter Biden \u2018called D.C.\u2019 for help with the government pressure facing Burisma,\u201d Comer added. \u201cAmericans demand accountability for this abuse of government office for the benefit of the Biden family. The Oversight Committee will continue to pursue all evidence to provide much needed transparency to the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
