During one of the competitions, Evelyn Williamson and Tessa Johnson competed under the team name \u201cTS-ESTRODOLLS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Johnson and Williamson celebrated their initial first place win&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossresults.com\/race\/11639#r163800\">on August 27<\/a>&nbsp;after their victory at the xXx Racing-Athletic Relay Cross in Chicago. During the race, they competed under the team name \u201cTS-ESTRODOLLS,\u201d an apparent nod to the female hormone estrogen. The two men surpassed nine other pairs of women for first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just days later on August 31,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/erv.veloreg.com\/race-results\/433162\">Johnson and Williamson beat out two other teams of women<\/a>&nbsp;at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome during the State Championship in Madison. The race was held by the Northbrook Cycle Committee, a tax-exempt charitable group and member of the American Track Racing Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Evelyn Williamson, 29, has been racing in women\u2019s categories for several years,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.road-results.com\/racer\/147568\">taking 18 first place titles<\/a>&nbsp;in races across the country since 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In March 2020, however, Williamson appears to have competed in both women\u2019s and men\u2019s categories at the Sky Express Winter Criterium. In the Women\u2019s Pro category, he placed first out of 13 racers. In the Men\u2019s category, he did not place at all in a race comprised of 40 men.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His teammate, Tessa Johnson, formerly Michael Johnson, also has previous first place wins in women\u2019s categories.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williamson and Johnson\u2019s victory was first reported by X (formerly Twitter) user\u00a0<em>@i_heart_bikes<\/em>, a female bike racer who frequently posts updates on the trans-identified males participation in women\u2019s sport. He won three first place races in Men\u2019s categories before beginning to compete in Women\u2019s categories in 2022. He won&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossresults.com\/racer\/177315\">eight first place titles in 2022<\/a>&nbsp;in his first year competing amongst women cyclers, sometimes part of Clemson University\u2019s team and others for Comrade Cycles Racing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since changing his gender identity, Johnson has a new profile on CrossResults under his \u201cfemale\u201d name which only lists his recent win with Williamson in the Women\u2019s Open race in Illinois last week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February of last year,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bicycling.com\/culture\/a39074093\/cycling-pros-share-their-love-stories\/\"><em>Bicycling<\/em>.com reported<\/a>&nbsp;that Pratt Racing had previously put together a team for Pennsylvania\u2019s Elite Track Cycling Nationals, which featured both Evelyn Williamson and another trans-identified male cyclist, Austin Killips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williamson and Killips were reportedly romantically involved, along with a third person, in a \u201cpolyamorous\u201d relationship as they celebrated their silver medal in the event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two began communicating on social media in March 2020 when Williamson still lived in Oakland, California. Williamson told&nbsp;<em>Bicycling<\/em>, \u201cSo I came to Chicago and was just very happy\u2014I got along with everyone, and it just kind of worked out\u2026 There was no expectation that we would all date together. But it just so happened that that worked out really well for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They \u201cshared a loved for cycling\u201d and bonded over \u201chow to navigate a career in the sport as transgender athletes.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In July,&nbsp;<em>WowAlly<\/em>, a reading platform that purports to host real-life stories on \u201cresearch-oriented facts,\u201d also reported on the two\u2019s relationship, an apparently popular love story in the cycling world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>WowAlly<\/em>&nbsp;noted that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wowally.com\/entertainment\/trans-cyclist-austin-killips-partner\/\">Killips and Williamson<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cwere the only two transgender racers on their team at the women\u2019s elite national track championship,\u201d and \u201cto everyone\u2019s suprise,\u201d won the Elite Track Cycling Nationals at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Pennsylvania.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Killips has similarly taken several first place wins in female categories and has forced at least one woman out of the sport after targeted physical aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5JLIfZfZgb\">pic.twitter.com\/5JLIfZfZgb<\/a><\/p>&mdash; ICONS (@icons_women) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/icons_women\/status\/1636149092161306624?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 15, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/breaking-trans-identified-male-places-first-in-womens-category-at-belgian-waffle-ride-north-carolina\/\">As previously reported by&nbsp;<em>Reduxx<\/em>,<\/a>&nbsp;Killips was accused of attempting to push female cyclist Hannah Arensman off the racing course at the UCI Cyclocross National Championships in December of 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/us-cyclocross-champion-reveals-she-retired-sport-emergence-transgender-athletes-womens-sports\">Arensman<\/a>, who was a 35-time winner in cyclocross racing, retired from the sport shortly after the controversy surrounding Killips appearing to push her off of the track during a women\u2019s competition.
