A new poll found that advanced age may well play a factor in the 2024 presidential election and two-thirds of one candidate\u2019s own party agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite launching a re-election campaign in April and the assurances of prominent players throughout the Democratic Party that President Joe Biden will be the candidate, a look at the sentiment of his own base by The Wall Street Journal indicated the pressure may be on to pull the plug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having questioned 1,500 registered voters nationwide from Aug. 24 \u2013 30, the Journal\u00a0wondered<\/a>\u00a0whether respondents believed the nearly 81-year-old president could handle another term in office or if he had aged out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The results showed that not only did 73 percent believe Biden\u2019s advanced years were a detriment to his ability to serve what would amount to nearly five-and-a-half more years in office, but that two-thirds of Democrat respondents agreed with that sentiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cVoters overwhelmingly think President Biden is too old to run for re-election and give him low marks for handling the economy and other issues important to their vote,\u201d reported the Journal before asserting the poll offered \u201ca stark warning to the 80-year-old incumbent ahead of the 2024 contest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
