President Joe Biden<\/a> is facing criticism over his handling of classified documents from the Obama administration\u2019s ethics chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obama administration ethics chief Walter Shaub told Fox News Digita<\/a>l Biden\u2019s case is \u201cnothing like Trump\u2019s deliberate refusal to return classified records demanded by the National Archives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August, the FBI\u00a0executed a search warrant\u00a0<\/a>at former President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Mar-a-Lago resort and reportedly recovered more\u00a0than 300 documents<\/a>\u00a0with classification markings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Shaub added, \u201cBiden\u2019s own retention of classified records reflects an inexcusable neglect of the most basic security protocols.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He went on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe fact that the White House didn\u2019t mention that records were found in more than one location when first asked about them was a breach of trust with the public and a self-inflicted wound.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Shaub also said, \u201cBased on what we know so far, it seems unlikely that he\u2019s at risk of any of legal consequences, but I\u2019m glad [U.S. Attorney General Merrick] Garland appointed a special counsel to show even-handed treatment of the current and former president.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His comment comes as Biden is facing a special counsel investigation<\/a> into his handling of classified documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Jan. 9, it was reported<\/a> a U.S. attorney was reviewing roughly 10 classified documents from Biden\u2019s time as vice president found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those documents were discovered in November before the midterm election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president told reporters<\/a> on Tuesday he was \u201csurprised\u201d to hear classified material was found at the Penn Biden Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey did what they should have done. They immediately called the [National Archives] \u2026 turned them over to the Archives,\u201d Biden said of his lawyers\u2019 actions when the documents were discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he explained he does not know what the documents are because, \u201cMy lawyers have not suggested I ask what documents they were.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another batch of documents was found <\/a>in the garage of the president\u2019s Wilmington, Delaware, home. Those documents were discovered<\/a> on Dec. 20, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And on Saturday, White House lawyer Richard Sauber revealed six documents<\/a> with classified markings were found in the president\u2019s private library of his Wilmington home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One was found on Wednesday and five more were discovered on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a\u00a0statement<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, Sauber said, \u201cWe are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were inadvertently misplaced, and the President and his lawyers acted promptly upon discovery of this mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
