His claims largely mirror those&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/this-is-a-ploy-california-ag-launches-probe-into-district-that-voted-to-alert-parents-if-children-identify-as-trans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">he made just weeks ago<\/a>&nbsp;when he launched a civil rights probe against the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notifying parents puts &#8220;transgender and gender nonconforming students in danger of imminent, irreparable harm,&#8221; the lawsuit claims. &#8220;These students are currently under threat of being outed to their parents or guardians against their express wishes and will.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The litigation raises the stakes in the state&#8217;s standoff against parents over gender ideology in public schools.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JZachreson\/status\/1694189132191543323\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">At least three districts&nbsp;<\/a>have followed Chino\u2019s lead in passing parental notification policies, and on Monday parents\u2019 rights activists filed a ballot initiative to enshrine them statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his lawsuit, Bonta cites surveys from the transgender activist group the Trevor Project to justify a blanket policy of secrecy toward parents, saying that &#8220;fewer than one-in-three transgender and gender nonbinary youth found their home to be gender-affirming, or accepting of their gender identity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chino\u2019s school board president Sonja Shaw told the\u00a0<em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>\u00a0she learned about the lawsuit from reporters, but she isn\u2019t surprised by Sacramento\u2019s aggressive stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Once again this is government overreach and the political cartel of Bonta, [Gov. Gavin] Newsom, and [State Superintendent Tony] Thurmond is using their muscle and taxpayer dollars to shut parents out of their children\u2019s lives,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newsom hinted\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/californias-newsom-hints-at-legislative-crackdown-on-parental-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier this month\u00a0<\/a>that lawmakers are working on a bill to forbid notices to parents, but nothing has materialized in the last few weeks of the legislative session.
