{"id":4994,"date":"2023-08-18T11:32:54","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T16:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=4994"},"modified":"2023-08-18T11:32:55","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T16:32:55","slug":"trump-calls-off-georgia-election-fraud-press-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=4994","title":{"rendered":"Trump Calls Off Georgia Election Fraud Press Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ijr.com\/tag\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>, it turns out, will not be holding a major press conference to present \u201cirrefutable proof\u201d of election fraud in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a post on Truth Social Thursday night, Trump wrote, \u201cRather than releasing the Report on the Rigged [and] Stolen Georgia 2020 Presidential Election on Monday, my lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable [and] Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud [and] Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful Indictment by a publicity [and] campaign finance seeking D.A., who sadly presides over a record breaking Murder [and] Violent Crime area, Atlanta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTherefore, the News Conference is no longer necessary!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump just canceled his press conference for Monday where he promised that he would present &quot;A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia&quot; which he said would be a &quot;complete EXONERATION!&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RLmLVfafbM\">pic.twitter.com\/RLmLVfafbM<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSaavedra\/status\/1692329483133423855?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump has repeatedly claimed there was widespread fraud that altered the results of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, several<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/in-depth\/news\/politics\/elections\/2021\/01\/06\/trumps-failed-efforts-overturn-election-numbers\/4130307001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;recounts and legal challenges<\/a>&nbsp;failed to substantiate his claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former president was\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/live-blog\/trump-georgia-indictment-rcna98900\" target=\"_blank\">indicted<\/a>\u00a0by a grand jury in Georgia on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Tuesday, Trump announced on Truth Social a \u201cLarge, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added it would be presented in a \u201cmajor press conference\u201d and would be a \u201ccomplete EXONERATION!\u201d However, his lawyers were<a href=\"https:\/\/ijr.com\/trumps-election-fraud-press-conference-much-doubt-legal-concerns-report\/\">&nbsp;reportedly urging<\/a>&nbsp;him not to hold the press conference due to concerns it could add to his legal troubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there was widespread fraud, perhaps there would not be as much consternation about this press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet, there was no widespread fraud in Georgia that altered the results of the 2020 election. And presenting a report with a bunch of baseless allegations&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ijr.com\/former-trump-wh-lawyer-scheduled-election-fraud-report-backfire-lead-charges\/\">could be seen<\/a>&nbsp;as an attempt to taint the jury pool, and be used as evidence against him in trial or even lead to more charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump is now claiming he will present his claims in court, which probably will not happen because there is no evidence, and lying in court can have some serious repercussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what happened in 2020 when Trump screamed on social media about fraud, but in court, his lawyers stated they were<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-cries-election-fraud-in-court-his-lawyers-dont-11605271267\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;not alleging&nbsp;<\/a>there was fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A key for those who still believe there was fraud in the election is what happens in the trial. If Trump does not present this report, ask yourself why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there really was fraud, this report should be presented in legal filings in court.
