If your little boy comes to you and says, \u2018Daddy, I want to be a girl.\u2019 And you just let him rock with that? He\u2019s 5. If you let this five-year-old boy decide to eat candy all day, he is going to do it,&#8221; Ne-Yo told interviewer Gloria Velez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLike when did it become a good idea to let a five-year-old, let a six-year-old, let a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision for they self? When did that happen? Like, I don\u2019t understand that. I don\u2019t get that,&#8221; Ne-Yo added, &#8220;He can\u2019t drive a car yet, but he can decide his sex?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I can&#8217;t take credit for it, but I heard someone say sometimes, and he said, &#8216;alright, if your son comes to you and says, &#8216;daddy I want to be a girl,&#8217; ask your son, &#8216;what is a girl?&#8217; What is he gonna do? He\u2019s gonna say well; he might want to play with dolls. All right, you want to play with dolls? Fine, play with dolls, but you\u2019re a boy. \u2018I wanna wear pink.\u2019 All right, cool, wear pink, but you\u2019re a boy wearing pink.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ne-Yo is essentially denying the connection between style preferences and gender identity. Indeed, even those on the radical left deny there is a necessary connection between the two &#8212; except when it comes to pressing radical gender ideology on young children, it seems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Ne-Yo seemed more than willing to advocate for his position during his appearance on VladTV, he walked back his remarks later on Twitter, saying, &#8220;After much reflection, I\u2019d like to express my deepest apologies to anyone that I may have hurt with my comments on parenting and gender identity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I\u2019ve always been an advocate for love and inclusivity in the LGBTQI+ community, so I understand how my comments could\u2019ve been interpreted as insensitive and offensive. Gender identity is nuanced and I can honestly admit that I plan to better educate myself on the topic, so I can approach future conversations with more empathy.
