J.B. Pritzker signed a law that will allow illegal immigrants to become police officers in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the signing of Illinois House Bill 3751 by the governor on Friday, U.S. citizenship will no longer be a requirement to serve as a police officer in the state of Illinois starting January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW: Democrat Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker has signed legislation allowing illegal immigrants to become police officers meaning American citizens could be cited and arrested by an illegal.<br><br>The insane legislation states that an &quot;individual who is not a citizen but is legally\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HcHDYGR8mE\">pic.twitter.com\/HcHDYGR8mE<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/1686476946153365504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 1, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">House Bill 3751&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilga.gov\/legislation\/billstatus.asp?DocNum=3751&amp;GAID=17&amp;GA=103&amp;DocTypeID=HB&amp;LegID=149009&amp;SessionID=112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">states<\/a>, \u201cAn individual who is not a citizen but is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law is authorized to apply for the position of police officer, subject to all requirements and limitations, other than citizenship, to which other applicants are subject.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law also states that non-U.S. citizens are required to be able to purchase, carry, and possess a firearm legally in order to apply to be a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite federal law prohibiting non-U.S. citizens from serving as police officers and deputies, illegal immigrants under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals will be eligible to apply for a position as a police officer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/illinois-gov-pritzker-allows-non-us-citizens-become-police-officers-new-law-fundamentally-bad-idea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a>&nbsp;Fox News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Media personality Collin Rugg summarized the opposition to Pritzker\u2019s bill by Republicans and law enforcement,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/collinrugg\/status\/1686476946153365504\" target=\"_blank\">stating<\/a>, \u201cImagine getting arrested by someone who illegally entered the country\u2026 Clown world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">At 5pm yesterday, when no one was paying attention, Pritzker signed a bill to allow illegal immigrants to become police officers, giving non-citizens the power to arrest citizens in our state. No sane state would allow foreign nationals to arrest their citizens, this is madness!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) pointed out the irony of the Illinois law, which allows people who are breaking the law just by being in the United States illegally to arrest American citizens.
