Rick Scott<\/a>&nbsp;supports the House investigations of the Biden family, saying, \u201clet\u2019s get the facts.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody wakes up any day and says, \u2018Oh, gosh, we hope our president gets impeached.\u2019 Nobody wants to do that,\u201d says Scott in an exclusive interview with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/author\/tony-kinnett\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Daily Signal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Florida Republican has praise for the GOP House investigations about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter\u2019s involvement in alleged millions of dollars worth of foreign bribery, intimidation, and influence peddling, saying \u201cwhat the House is doing is right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-impeachment-mccarthy-hannity-78e4c7efeb030b29e1576f868257179b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Fox News host Sean Hannity<\/a>&nbsp;of the House investigations: \u201cThis is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are going through a very deliberate process to say, \u2018Do [the president\u2019s] actions warrant impeachment?\u2019\u201d Scott continues, adding: \u201cThey\u2019re doing it the opposite way that the Democrats did with [then-President Donald] Trump. [Democrats] said, \u2018We\u2019re going to impeach this guy. Let\u2019s find something he did wrong.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/impeach-biden-skeptical-gop-senators-warn-mimicking-dems-cheapened-process\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Several Republican senators<\/a>&nbsp;have cautioned their House counterparts concerning impeaching Biden, suggesting that it could be akin to Democrats\u2019 \u201ccheapening\u201d the impeachment process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDo I think it\u2019s good for this country that our presidents get impeached?\u201d asks Scott. \u201cNo, but you\u2019re not above the law. You\u2019ve got to follow our Constitution. If you don\u2019t, that\u2019s when you get impeached.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Florida senator also notes Congress is supposed to do oversight: \u201cIt\u2019s our job to hold the president and the entire executive branch accountable, and if we just say, \u2018Oh, we\u2019re not going to do our jobs for the next year-and-a-half,\u2019 that\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s get the facts,\u201d he adds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As House Republicans grill Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the southern U.S. border and immigration policy enforcement, there has been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2023\/07\/26\/see-6-moments-republicans-grill-mayorkas-failure-secure-americas-borders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">talk of impeaching Mayorkas<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scott says the secretary, who he did not vote to confirm, \u201cshould resign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I interviewed him, he told me that he was going to enforce the law,\u201d says Scott. \u201cHe told me that he was going to prove me wrong \u2014 that I should have voted for him \u2014 but he\u2019s done just the opposite. I think he ought to resign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to the Senate Republican conference, Scott says he believes he faced \u201ccomplete retribution\u201d for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2022\/11\/22\/republicans-expect-mcconnell-retaliation-for-supporting-rick-scott\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;position as the head of Senate Republicans in November. Ultimately, ten Senate Republicans voted for Scott over&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/tag\/mitch-mcconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">McConnell<\/a>, leaving McConnell\u2019s perch as GOP senate leader secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMike Lee and I were both kicked off of the Commerce Committee, because Mike seconded my nomination to be the [Senate] Republican leader,\u201d says Scott, referencing the Utah Republican senator. \u201cI had been on the Commerce Committee since I got up here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve probably run the biggest company of anybody that\u2019s ever been in the Senate, so it\u2019s just fascinating. It\u2019s complete retribution,\u201d he adds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scott told The Daily Signal that how he\u2019s been treated flies in the face of typical Senate procedure: \u201cI think it\u2019s completely wrong. Usually, the way it works up here is that you get to choose your preference on committees, and you generally get your preferences. So, in my case, I\u2019ve got two \u2018A\u2019 committees. There are other senators that have as many as five.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe know it\u2019s wrong, but the way I look at it is: I\u2019m going to do my best to represent my state,\u201d he says. \u201cI can\u2019t control what other people do, so I\u2019m just going to keep doing my job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scott, who was elected in 2018 after serving as Florida\u2019s governor for two terms, is now eying his reelection bid.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust this week, we announced that now 59 of the 66 sheriffs in the state have endorsed me for reelection,\u201d he says. \u201cI think about what people care about: They care about their livelihood. That\u2019s having a job, inflation, and things like that. They care about their kids\u2019 education, and they care about public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe truth is, without public safety, you don\u2019t get the first two. So, building a good relationship with the law enforcement community and helping them succeed is about the biggest thing you can do to help any citizen in your state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked what his message is to the everyday Americans who have lost trust in the Republican Party and the federal government to address the apparent lack of accountability and oversight, Scott urges people to vote and says: \u201cWell, this is your country. There\u2019s no better country.
