We cannot go backwards,\u201d Biden said. \u201cI know it is a severe disappointment to so many people, including me, but we cannot let it be a permanent setback. We need to remember that we have to find a path forward\u201d Biden said of the decision and its implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legal pundits have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/06\/28\/supreme-courts-coming-ruling-affirmative-action-ripple-effects-corporate-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indicated<\/a>&nbsp;that the ruling could lead to future litigation against discriminatory race-based processes in other areas of American life, including corporate hiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A growing number of American corporations have adopted hiring practices that incorporate preferences for certain racial identities as part of a wider\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/28\/diversity-jobs-are-drying-up-as-big-businesses-tighten-their-belts\/\" target=\"_blank\">push<\/a>\u00a0to align their corporate\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/03\/14\/robin-diangelo-dei-corporations-reject-diversity-panel-consulting-hiring\/\" target=\"_blank\">values<\/a>\u00a0with diversity, equity and inclusion (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/06\/21\/disney-dei-officer-departs-latondra-newton\/\" target=\"_blank\">DEI<\/a>) guidelines. As an extension of that policy, the Biden administration has\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/03\/08\/biden-billion-dollar-program-dei-pledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">required<\/a>\u00a0that corporations pledge to meet certain DEI goals in order to be eligible to receive certain federal funds for particular initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"US president Joe Biden gives speech on affirmative action \u2013 watch live\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PpfQu2ngua0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"US president Joe Biden gives speech on affirmative action \u2013 watch live\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PpfQu2ngua0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Justice John Roberts authored the majority opinion for the case,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/22pdf\/20-1199_hgdj.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writing<\/a>&nbsp;that universities had \u201cconcluded, wrongly, that the touchstone of an individual\u2019s identity is not challenges bested, skills built or lessons learned but the color of their skin.
