Devin Nunes of California, who also served as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday that there\u2019s \u201cno way I would trust the current FBI\u201d over its defiance of a House Oversight Committee subpoena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/05\/03\/sen-grassley-rep-comer-demand-fbi-record-alleging-criminal-scheme-involving-then-vp-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0to the FBI on May 3 to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/grassley_comer_to_fbi_-_biden_1023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">demand<\/a>\u00a0that the agency produce a document that allegedly details a bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden. Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy said during a Tuesday\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/05\/30\/speaker-mccarthy-contempt-christopher-wray\/\" target=\"_blank\">appearance<\/a>\u00a0on \u201cFox and Friends\u201d that a contempt of Congress charge could be an option if FBI Director Christopher Wray\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/05\/30\/house-oversight-committee-fbi-director-wray-contempt-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\">refused<\/a>\u00a0to turn over a subpoenaed document, which the FBI\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/05\/30\/house-oversight-committee-fbi-director-wray-contempt-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\">did not<\/a>\u00a0do even after a Wednesday\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/05\/31\/rep-james-comer-doubles-down-on-threat-to-hold-fbi-director-in-contempt-after-phone-call\/\" target=\"_blank\">phone call<\/a>\u00a0between Comer and Wray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI will tell you that there is no way that I would trust the current FBI or the Department of Justice on this,\u201d Nunes told Trace Gallagher, who was guest-hosting \u201cThe Story with Martha MacCallum.\u201d \u201cAnd if I\u2019m Comer, look at what happened in \u201817, and \u201818, and \u201819 and \u201820 with the whole Russia hoax, the Durham investigation, everything we uncovered.
