Hodges<\/em>&nbsp;\u2014 in which the then-activist court legislated same-sex marriage was legal everywhere \u2014 the left told Americans that attacks on marriage would end there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Love is love<\/em>, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These people declared that when two consenting adults committed to one another, they should be allowed to marry in the same manner as men and women have for centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marriage had to be redefined to something other than what virtually all big-name Democrats said it was prior to about a decade ago: One man and one woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FWashingtonBlade%2Fvideos%2F297576781630948%2F&#038;show_text=0&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"421\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><noscript><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FWashingtonBlade%2Fvideos%2F297576781630948%2F&#038;show_text=0&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"421\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But these people have all since celebrated the legal change to the definition of what constitutes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/47-house-republicans-just-sided-democrats-vote-gay-marriage-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a marriage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fast-forward to Wednesday and CNN attempted to normalize another kind of union \u2014 one in which lonely bachelorettes are marrying themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the word might sound like an exotic cut of pork, it actually means \u201cthe practice or state of marriage to one\u2019s self,\u201d according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dictionary.com\/browse\/sologamy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dictionary.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People are apparently engaging in this bizarre and desperate act all over the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCNN talked to four women who\u2019ve married themselves. They describe the act as a symbolic expression of self-love and an affirmation of a deep, meaningful relationship with one\u2019s self. They also say it has nothing to do with swearing off future partnerships with a spouse, which they say is a popular misconception,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CNN showed women whose ages ranged from their thirties to their seventies. Each of them symbolically married themselves and some had elaborate ceremonies with\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bride-bridesmaids-walk-shelter-dogs-aisle-instead-carrying-bouquets-wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\">bridesmaids<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One 77-year-old divorcee named Dorothy Fideli was once married to a man and together they raised a family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CNN reported Fideli\u2019s two children were both present when she recently married herself at a nursing home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI felt beautiful, like I had won a lottery or something. I felt like a queen,\u201d the woman told CNN after she married herself. \u201cI felt important to myself \u2026 like I was somebody. It\u2019s hard to explain the feeling \u2014 you have to feel it in your soul.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CNN\u2019s Faith Karimi, who spoke to each of these women, said they all understood why people might find sologamy a strange practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re lonely, looking for love and you wish to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/reaction-famous-actress-engagement-showcases-just-wrong-society-marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marry<\/a>, it\u2019s common knowledge that you make yourself a better person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good-natured and well-meaning people with something to offer tend to be magnets to other people who are looking for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/candace-cameron-bure-responds-traditional-marriage-comment-ignites-fury-among-leftists-shouldnt-surprised\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the ultimate commitment<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In today\u2019s narcissistic world, self-reflection is no longer on the table for many people.
