If this injunction is granted, the enforcement of both the state and local laws would be stopped.

NAGR and NFGR are calling on the Naperville City Council to repeal the “assault weapons” ordinance in order for NAGR’s ongoing efforts against the statewide ban to proceed without Bevis’s store being forced to close down and without violating the Second Amendment rights of Naperville residents.

“We’re giving Naperville this one chance to save face,” declared Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “Naperville has the responsibility to restore their citizens’ Second Amendment rights and save their tax dollars from what is clearly going to be a losing effort. They should cut their losses now before the higher courts strike down their illegal gun ban.”

NAGR and its legal and political affiliates can always be counted on to defend the Second Amendment at all levels of government. They will even go to blue states, where there’s no real prospect for the passage of pro-gun legislation or the repeal of gun control laws. In turn, using legal action is the only viable tool to restore gun rights in these jurisdictions.

As a state that’s ranked in 39th place for Guns & Ammo magazine’s best states for gun owners rankings, Illinois has very little chance of moving in a pro-gun direction through conventional legislative means.
