Roger Marshall, R-Kan., and Steve Daines, R-Mont., a senior member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee \u2014 argued in the letter addressed to&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/republicans-demand-bidens-energy-secretary-retract-unserious-comments-praising-china\">Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm<\/a>&nbsp;that the DOE regulations are unwise, harmful to the nation and detrimental to the U.S. economy. They also said the actions appear to contradict President Biden\u2019s stated opposition to a gas stove ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Biden Administration\u2019s proposed ban on gas stoves is wildly out of touch with the American people and insensitive to the financial hardship the White House has pushed on families from their reckless economic policies,\u201d Marshall told Fox News Digital in a statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will not accept this direct assault on consumer choice,\u201d he continued. \u201cMillions of Americans rely on natural gas and propane for their daily needs. I\u2019m calling on the DOE to find energy standards that help Americans instead of restricting them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/federal-appeals-court-strikes-down-democratic-citys-natural-gas-ban-backed-biden-admin\"><strong>FEDERAL APPEALS COURT STRIKES DOWN DEMOCRATIC CITY\u2019S NATURAL GAS BAN BACKED BY BIDEN ADMIN<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DOE unveiled the regulations targeting stovetops in early February, saying, if finalized, they would go into effect in 2027 and save Americans up to $1.7 billion while curbing greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve the emissions reductions, the rules propose to restrict certain features of natural gas-powered stoves that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-receives-backlash-nearly-two-dozen-groups-cracking-down-gas-stoves\" target=\"_blank\">consumer groups have argued<\/a>\u00a0would substantially diminish product quality.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conservativemodern.com\/nadler-dismisses-essentially-fraudulent-claims-from-republicans-about-crime-in-nyc\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, under the proposal, just 50% of the gas stoves currently on the market would be allowed to be sold. The DOE clarified the estimated number of gas stoves it said would meet the new requirements after its own data&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admins-regulations-ban-96-percent-gas-stoves-republican-senator-warns\">suggested 96% of gas stoves<\/a>&nbsp;would be banned under the regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their letter, the Republicans said the regulations appear to be \u201cdirect attack on the use of natural gas with little to no consumer benefit.\u201d They said Americans should be allowed to have the freedom to choose which types of gas stoves and which product features they want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe firmly believe in the free market and the ability of American citizens to make their own choices,\u201d they stated. \u201cBy effectively banning gas stovetops through the imposition of excessively stringent efficiency standards, the Department of Energy is depriving Americans of the freedom to choose the type of appliance that best suits their needs, whether it is for cooking, heating, or any other purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawmakers concluded their comments, saying the DOE should work with manufacturers and consumer groups to determine the best energy efficiency standards.
