Some, including former Trump attorney general&nbsp;<strong>Bill Barr<\/strong>, claim that the boost to Trump is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/bill-barr-claims-trump-indictment-is-designed-to-get-him-2024-nomination\/\">motive for the indictment<\/a>. Sen.&nbsp;<strong>Ted Cruz<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/podcasts\/ted-cruz-says-alvin-bragg-made-the-single-greatest-contribution-to-a-presidential-campaign-for-trump-with-indictment\/\">called it<\/a>&nbsp;an \u201cenormous political gift\u201d for Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Predictions were met or exceeded in polling with the newest from Yahoo\/YouGov, the first major survey taken after the indictment just days ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump is leading Desantis 57% to 31% \u2013 a huge 26-point lead that&nbsp;<em>triples<\/em>&nbsp;the previous result of this survey a mere two weeks ago. At that time, Trump was ahead of DeSantis by just 8%, at 47% to 39%.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/am13.mediaite.com\/med\/cnt\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Yahoo-Trump-Survey-Post-Indictment.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-5430704\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/am13.mediaite.com\/med\/cnt\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Yahoo-Trump-Survey-Post-Indictment.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5430704\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, as Yahoo points out, on whether Trump should get another term if convicted, the results aren\u2019t as favorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Survey asked, \u201cIf Donald Trump is convicted of a crime in this case, do you think he should be allowed to serve as president again in the future?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among all respondents, just 31% said yes, while 52% said no, he should not. Among Republicans the number was upside down, with 56% saying yes and 24% no, with 20% unsure.
