The move comes on the heels of Walmart announcing its departure from the city due to financial reasons \u2014 a decision that came after Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said theft was \u201chigher than what it has historically been,\u201d stressing that \u201cstores will close\u201d if authorities don\u2019t get serious about prosecuting shoplifting crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Cracker Barrel permanently closes remaining Portland metro area restaurants\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xcQvdGvh410?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Cracker Barrel permanently closes remaining Portland metro area restaurants\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xcQvdGvh410?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With more than 600 locations nationwide, Cracker Barrel pointed to the COVID-19 pandemic as the driving factor in its decision to close the locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said in a statement: \u201cAs a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the performance of our stores, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our guests and our business.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith that, we are saddened that we have been unable to overcome the impact the pandemic had on our business and have made the difficult decision to close the Beaverton, Tualatin, and Bend locations on March 20,\u201d the release added. \u201cThe decision to close a store is never one we take lightly, and our focus right now is in assisting our impacted employees during this transition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Cracker Barrel spokesperson reaffirmed in a statement to Fox Business that post-pandemic struggles prompted the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLike so many other companies, the pandemic impacted our business, and we have struggled to staff and profitably run these stores.
