Leigh Finke, 41, was chosen as an honoree on the basis that he is \u201cthe first transgender legislator in the state\u2019s House of Representatives, fighting to build a better future for trans youth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finke was elected as a representative to Minnesota House District 66A last year after campaigning on a platform which largely consisted of guaranteeing medical interventions for gender non-conforming minors, which he describes as \u201ctrans youth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/storytelling\/grid\/women-of-the-year-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\">50 honorees<\/a>\u00a0chosen by the publication from each state were notable female figures such as former first lady Michelle Obama and Sandra Day O\u2019Connor, the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USATODAY?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@USATODAY<\/a> released their Women of the Year project, picking one woman to represent each state, and they have selected me as Woman of the Year for Minnesota. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cOKwoMrD9b\">https:\/\/t.co\/cOKwoMrD9b<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Leigh Finke (@leighfinke) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/leighfinke\/status\/1637458787215761408?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 19, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While campaigning for public office, Finke&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-ggYt4wfo8Q\">discussed a variety of social issues<\/a>, including climate change and police brutality, but as the November 2022 election neared, he began to place a particular focus on the medical transitioning of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finke held several&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/leighfinke\/status\/1500847619295219719\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rallies for \u201ctrans kids\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;in the months leading up to the voting date, and the first bill that he authored as an elected official, the Trans Refuge Bill, or H.F. 146, would allow minors from outside the state to receive puberty blockers and hormones within Minnesota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tPcQesH5uzE\">Minnesota Capitol building<\/a>&nbsp;on March 8 in support of the Trans Refuge bill, Finke said: \u201cThe lives of trans and gender-expansive people in this nation are under attack. There is a full-scale movement in this nation against trans, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender-expansive adults and children that seeks to make our community disappear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with\u00a0<em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mprnews.org\/story\/2023\/03\/02\/what-is-genderaffirming-health-care-trans-refuge-bill-would-help-kids-get-it\" target=\"_blank\">MPR News<\/a><\/em>, Finke stated that \u201cthe law would make it so that people who live in states who have banned or restricted gender-affirming care can come to Minnesota to access that care and be protected from the laws that govern their home states.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today I joined <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovTimWalz?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GovTimWalz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LtGovFlanagan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LtGovFlanagan<\/a> to announce an executive order to protect trans and gender expansive kids, adults and families. <br>Minnesota is making it known, again, that we stand with those who need help. Published in 2020,&nbsp;<em>Queerfully and Wonderfully Made: A Guide for LGBTQ+ Christian Teens<\/em>&nbsp;tells readers that parents who do not accept a child as \u201cqueer\u201d are not considering the child\u2019s best interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf your parents do not accept you&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;your queerness, then they do not know what\u2019s best for you\u2026 Just because they love you&nbsp;<em>does not<\/em>&nbsp;mean they know what is best for you,\u201d the passage states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Facebook post just after the book\u2019s publication, Finke shared a photo of the excerpt, emphasizing that \u201cthis chapter from my book is the most important thing I\u2019ve ever written\u2026 Trans and non-binary and queer and gay and lesbian and bi young people: Don\u2019t listen to your parents!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another passage, labeled \u201cAdults Can Be (And Often Are) Wrong,\u201d asserts that minors should \u201climit contact with any adult\u201d who does not affirm their \u201cqueerness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When discussing the age at which children may begin to identify as the opposite sex, Finke cites research on same-sex attraction which found that participants, on average, said they first realized their orientation at eleven years old. \u201cTransgender and gender non-conforming people often feel a disconnect between their self and their body even earlier in life,\u201d it is stated, \u201cbut age doesn\u2019t really matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A follow-up book,\u00a0<em>Welcoming and Affirming<\/em>, is presented as a resource for adults on supporting \u201cLGBTQ+ youth,\u201d encourages teachers and counselors to withhold information from parents about their children. Finke advises adults to \u201cestablish expectations of confidentiality\u201d regarding \u201cgender identity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can talk with your queer student about how they want to tell others, but unless they specifically tell you otherwise, this is not your information to share,\u201d the book suggests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disturbingly, both publications by Finke made references to eunuchs in relation to childhood gender identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<em>Queerfully and Wonderfully Made<\/em>, Finke writes, \u201cDid you know there were queer people in Bible times? In Matthew, Jesus tells his disciples, \u2018For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finke&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/kndFcmxie_s?t=161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">again referenced eunuchs<\/a>&nbsp;during a speech he gave at Hamline Methodist church last year, and also cited the Bible verse about eunuchs in&nbsp;<em>Welcoming and Affirming<\/em>. The references to castration as a form of identity mirror those made by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which last fall published guidelines that include the concept of a eunuch identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support this proposal, WPATH cited an online forum dedicated to hosting and producing graphic written sexual abuse fantasies that involve the explicit castration of children, both chemical and surgical. Critics of the administration of puberty-halting drugs being given to children have pointed out that the medications are a form of chemical castration. The forum, called the Eunuch Archive, has been operating for over two decades and organizes annual meet-ups in Minnesota state.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20700%20368'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/campaign.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-20298\" width=\"700\" height=\"368\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/campaign.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20298\" width=\"700\" height=\"368\"\/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rep. Finke frequently discussed controversial medical interventions for minors while campaigning for office.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In addition to campaigning for childhood medical interventions, Finke has defended the participation of men who claim a female identity in women\u2019s sports. In March 2022, he posted in defense of controversial male athlete Lia Thomas, previously known as William, despite Thomas\u2019 female teammates having come forward just months prior to say that they were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/27\/teammates-are-uneasy-changing-in-locker-room-with-trans-upenn-swimmer-lia-thomas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">uncomfortable with him<\/a>&nbsp;exposing his genitals next to them in the locker room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe should be eager to celebrate trans excellence,\u201d Finke wrote. \u201cLia Thomas won a national championship. Congratulations Lia. That is all you should have to say.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20435%20408'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/elect-women.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-20300\" width=\"435\" height=\"408\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/elect-women.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20300\" width=\"435\" height=\"408\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Finke has created politically-themed experimental videos in the past under the moniker Totally Gay Productions. One video, posted to his Facebook page in March 2021, is titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/fb.watch\/jrU_OvzCxO\/\">Why TERFs are bad<\/a>,\u201d and attempts to portray disagreement with the view that men can be women as discrimination. \u2018TERF\u2019 is an acronym which stands for Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist and is often directed towards women who question the belief that a man can identify as a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, Finke states that \u201ctrans women and girls are \u2018real\u2019 women and girls,\u201d before adding: \u201cWoman is not a concept easily restricted or oppressed. \u2018Woman\u2019 is internal and strong, infinitely variable and enduringly powerful\u2026 Powerful enough to lovingly embrace trans women and girls. Don\u2019t be a TERF, love everyone,\u201d Finke admonishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last March, while campaigning for the position of state representative, Finke encouraged supporters to \u201celect women\u201d by voting for him. \u201cHappy Women\u2019s History Month. Let\u2019s make some,\u201d read an image he posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May of 2020, Finke lamented the death of pederast sympathizer Larry Kramer. Kramer, a gay men\u2019s rights activist and the founder of the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power (ACTUP), is prominently featured on the website of the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Untitled-design-8-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-20312\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Untitled-design-8-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20312\"\/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kramer\u2019s death being lamented by Finke on his \u201cTotally Gay Productions\u201d account [L], and Kramer\u2019s entry on the website of NAMBLA featuring a quote justifying adult-child sex.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Finke has also made statements in support of rioting and posted an image to his Facebook profile suggesting that it is necessary to \u201carm trans people.\u201d He mentioned the potential for violence during his speech at Hamline Methodist in reference to a \u201ctorrent of anti-trans legislation\u201d which seeks to restrict medical interventions for minors. Finke stated it was necessary to \u201cprotect trans kids\u201d, and asserted that in the near future, \u201cthere will be more riots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minnesota bill H.F. 146, the Trans Refuge bill, is the second of its kind in the United States. At the start of the year, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-politics-and-policy\/california-governor-signs-bill-offering-legal-refuge-transgender-youth-rcna50240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">similar legislation<\/a>&nbsp;went into effect in California despite enormous pushback from concerned citizens across the political spectrum and opposition from detransitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both states have been leading historical hotbeds for transsexual surgeries and gender identity ideology. The first gender clinics in the nation could be found within university hospitals in California and Minnesota. In 1966,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mnopedia.org\/thing\/transsexual-research-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the University of Minnesota<\/a>&nbsp;performed sex-reassignment surgeries on men as part of an experiment called the Transsexual Research Project. The university currently houses an Institute for Sexual and Gender Health which offers services for \u201cgender creative children and adolescents.\u201d Doctors in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2019\/11\/18\/2-subjects-discuss-trauma-as-kids-involved-in-uclas-now-defunct-gender-identity-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UCLA Department of Psychiatry<\/a>&nbsp;established&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lgbtq.ucla.edu\/history-timeline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the first gender identity clinic<\/a>&nbsp;in the United States in 1962, and prominent academics associated with theorizing around gender identity also have ties to universities in both states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which dropped all objective age restrictions for medical transitioning in\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/trans-authority-cites-pedophilic-forum-reduces-age-restrictions-for-puberty-blockers-and-genital-surgeries\/\" target=\"_blank\">their latest Standards of Care<\/a>\u00a0(SOC 8), was previously based in Minnesota for a time, and a number of the organization\u2019s recent directors have affiliations with the University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Original Article: <a href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/usa-todays-male-woman-of-the-year-encouraged-minors-to-limit-contact-with-parents\/\">https:\/\/reduxx.info\/usa-todays-male-woman-of-the-year-encouraged-minors-to-limit-contact-with-parents\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A trans-identified male who drafted a bill declaring Minnesota a \u201crefuge state\u201d for the medical transitioning of minors has been awarded the&nbsp;title of Woman of the Year&nbsp;by&nbsp;USA Today.
