{"id":2226,"date":"2023-03-22T12:48:06","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T17:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=2226"},"modified":"2023-03-22T12:48:06","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T17:48:06","slug":"wyoming-makes-major-victory-to-protect-womens-sports-from-transgender-athletes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=2226","title":{"rendered":"Wyoming Makes Major Victory to Protect Women\u2019s Sports From Transgender Athletes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: This article may contain commentary reflecting the author&#8217;s opinion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last Friday, Wyoming passed a bill that effectively bans biological men from competing in women\u2019s sports \u2014 becoming the 19th state to implement such a ban. While Governor Mark Gordon expressed skepticism of some of the bill\u2019s tenets, he allowed the bill to go into law without the benefit of his signature. As a result, the law is scheduled to go into effect on July 1 of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bill, titled the Student Eligibility in Interscholastic Sports Act,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2023\/SF0133\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">states<\/a>, \u201ca student of the male sex shall not compete, and a public school shall not allow a student of the male sex to compete, in an athletic activity or team designated for students of the female sex.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building upon that, the bill also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2023\/SF0133\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prohibits,<\/a>&nbsp;\u201ca school from permitting males to train or practice with an interscholastic athletic activity that is designated for females so long as no female is deprived of a roster spot on a team or sport, opportunity to participate in a practice or competition, scholarship, admission to an educational institution or any other benefit that accompanies participating in the interscholastic athletic activity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dcenquirer.com\/norfolk-southern-alan-shaw-east-palestine\/\"><strong>NORFOLK SOUTHERN CEO BLASTED FOR EAST PALESTINE RESPONSE, REVEALS DETAILS BEHIND WHO ORDERED CONTROLLED BURN OF CHEMICALS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<video muted=\"\" playsinline=\"\" hidefocus=\"hidefocus\" style=\"width:100% !important;height:100% !important;display:block\" preload=\"metadata\" src=\"blob:null\/309d6497-c39b-4414-a93e-936f778d64e7\" poster=\"https:\/\/sp.rmbl.ws\/s8\/1\/w\/0\/0\/O\/w00Oi.qR4e-small-THEY-HATE-YOU-Fauci-Confron.jpg\"><\/video>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Gordon (R-WY) expressed his hesitations over the bill in a letter to Secretary of State Chuck Gray. In the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/WYGOV\/2023\/03\/17\/file_attachments\/2440949\/SF%20133_Letter_3_17_23.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">letter<\/a>, he urged the legislature to \u201cconsider policies that promote inclusion and inclusivity for all individuals,\u201d \u2014 claiming the issue has \u201ctwo sides.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhile I support and agree with the overall goal of fairness in competitive female sports, I am concerned that the ban included in this legislation is overly draconian, is discriminatory without attention to individual circumstances or mitigating factors, and pays little attention to fundamental principles of equality,\u201d Gordon wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wyoming joins a growing list of states banning biological men from participating in women\u2019s athletics.
