James Comer (R-KY), Chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. The payment was listed among bank documents provided to the committee from the Treasury Department as part of a GOP-led investigation into the Biden family\u2019s overseas business dealings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transfer is said to have been sent from two individuals linked to the Chinese Communist Party just a few weeks after President Joe Biden\u2019s second term as vice president ended in 2017.&nbsp;According to Comer, several members of the Biden family received \u201chundreds of thousands of dollars in payouts\u201d after the wire transfer cleared \u2013 including one individual that had not been previously associated with the family\u2019s influence-peddling schemes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is unclear what these individuals did in exchange for the money.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are going to continue to use bank documents and suspicious activity reports to follow the money trail to determine the extent of the Biden family\u2019s business schemes, if Joe Biden is compromised by these deals, and if there is a national security threat,\u201d said Comer. \u201cIf Treasury tries to stonewall our investigation again, we will continue to use tools at our disposal to compel compliance.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Treasury Department had denied the committee access to more than 150 \u201csuspicious activity reports\u201d related to Hunter Biden until Comer demanded an interview with Treasury Department executive Jonathan Davidson so that he could explain \u201cunder the penalty of perjury\u201d why the department was hiding \u201ccritical information\u201d related to the President of the United States. The committee was granted access to the reports and the interview was postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cSuspicious activity reports\u201d are flagged transactions that are brought to the attention of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network for review.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comer has also subpoenaed Bank of America in order to access more than ten years\u2019 worth of financial records related to Hunter Biden \u2013 including years when his father served as vice president.\u00a0Comer\u2019s \u201cworking theory\u201d is that Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and other family members orchestrated a years-long influence peddling operation without properly registering as foreign agents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Biden family\u2019s financial activities have been under review for years, with the most notable headline being the discovery of a laptop Hunter Biden left at a repair shop in 2019 (read more in linked content below). Combined with information from whistleblowers and data from said laptop, documents from the Treasury detail a \u201cdecade-long pattern of influence peddling, national security risks, and political cover-ups\u201d committed by members of the Biden family that \u201craises troubling questions\u201d about whether President Biden has been \u201ccompromised by foreign governments\u201d in connection with Hunter\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During an interview with\u00a0<em>Fox News<\/em>\u00a0host Bill Hemmer, Comer added that the $3 million payment was \u201cjust the first wire that we\u2019ve actually been able to obtain bank records on.
