The former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama dropped a bombshell earlier this month when she revealed that she couldn\u2019t stand the first decade of her marriage with former President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former First Lady sat down for an interview<\/a> with Revolt TV to discuss her new book: \u201cThe Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Obama went on to explain that the release of her new book terrified her: \u201cI think there are a lot of young people who look at famous people and think that we don\u2019t experience those doubts\u2026 but before I put something important out into the world, I am nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nearly two-hour interview then turned on to her marriage in which she stated that she couldn\u2019t stand the 44th president in the early part of her marriage: \u201cPeople think I\u2019m being catty for saying this: it\u2019s like, there were 10 years where I couldn\u2019t stand my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd guess when it happened? When those kids were little,\u201d she continued, adding that little kids \u201chave demands. They don\u2019t talk. They\u2019re poor communicators. They cry all the time. They\u2019re irrational. They\u2019re needy. And you love them more than anything. And so you can\u2019t blame them. So you turn that ire on each other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor 10 years while we\u2019re trying to build our careers and worrying about school and who\u2019s doing what and what, I was like, \u2018Argh, this isn\u2019t even!\u2019 And guess what? Marriage isn\u2019t 50\/50, ever. Ever,\u201d Obama emphasized, as reported by The Daily Wire<\/a>. \u201cThere are times I\u2019m 70, he\u2019s 30. There are times he\u2019s 60, 40. But guess what? Ten years. We\u2019ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 \u2014 it\u2019s just how you look at it. People give up \u2014 \u2018Five years; I can\u2019t take it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to commenting on her husband, she also spent a substantial amount of the interview speaking about how she raised her kids, Sasha and Malia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMotherhood, it\u2019s that push and pull of how do I protect my child \u2013 and we feel this until they are up, forever,\u201d the mother of two explained. \u201cHow do I let them go so they can have these experiences? Get bumped in the head, walk off the cliff, and walk into a wall. This is the hardest part about parenting is letting them grow up and make mistakes and be out there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we were in the White House with my girls, they could have been as sheltered and protected as anybody,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut I had to think about what\u2019s going to happen when these eight years are over. How are they going to exist in the world? So I had to get them out of this comfort zone now. I had to make sure that they are living even in their abnormal world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Michelle Obama faces the same parenting struggles raising her two daughters as every American, the insight she provided into her marriage is something that most Americans don\u2019t often see from the Obamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
