{"id":1998,"date":"2023-03-15T11:59:17","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T16:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=1998"},"modified":"2023-03-15T11:59:18","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T16:59:18","slug":"not-one-student-proficient-in-math-in-10-minneapolis-st-paul-public-schools-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nakedpolitics.net\/?p=1998","title":{"rendered":"Not one student proficient in math in 10 Minneapolis, St. Paul public schools: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least 10 elementary and high schools in the Minneapolis Public School District and St. Paul Public School District in Minnesota, did not have a single student meet grade level expectations in math during the 2021-2022 school year, according to a Wednesday report by the Center of the American Experiment, an organization focused on state public policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Statewide, 19 school districts did not have one student test proficient in math on the 2022&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/education.mn.gov\/mde\/fam\/tests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment<\/a>, a standardized test used to determine what students have learned, according to a Center of the American Experiment&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanexperiment.org\/0-not-a-single-student-proficient-in-math-at-19-minnesota-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>. Of elementary schools in the Minneapolis and St. Paul school districts, seven did not have a single student meeting grade-level expectations in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/10\/not-one-student-met-grade-level-expectations-for-math-in-23-baltimore-schools-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">math<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs of the start of the 2022 school year, fewer than half of Minnesota students statewide are proficient in math (44.6 percent), and just under 50 percent can\u2019t read at grade level,\u201d Catrin Wigfall, the author of the report, wrote. \u201cOn national assessments, Minnesota reading and math scores are the lowest they have been in 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the 19 schools, six were traditional public schools, two were online public schools and 11 were public charter schools, the report stated. In 2022, the nation\u2019s reading scores&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/09\/01\/government-lockdowns-crushed-two-decades-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dropped<\/a>&nbsp;to fall in line with numbers from 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe bottom line is everyone suffered in the pandemic.. because of the pandemic,\u201d Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rweingarten\/status\/1586731593703559168?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in October. \u201cThe disruption was everywhere, and it was bad regardless of whether schools were remote or in person.
