Gretchen Whitmer (D) admitted on Sunday that&nbsp;<strong>her administration\u2019s pandemic-era lockdown policies went too far<\/strong>, such as her April 2020 executive order barring most stores from selling&nbsp;<strong>gardening supplies, including seeds and plants, to Americans who anted to grow their own fruits and vegetables<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere were moments where, you know, we had to make some decisions that in retrospect don\u2019t make a lot of sense, right? If you went to the hardware store, you could go to the hardware store but we didn\u2019t want people to be congregating around the garden supplies,\u201d Whitmer told&nbsp;<em>CN<\/em><em>N\u2019s<\/em>&nbsp;Chris Wallace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople said \u2018oh, she\u2019s outlawed seeds.\u2019 It was February in Michigan, no one was planting anyway,\u201d she continued (except it was in April). \u201cBut that being said, some of those policies I look back and think, you know, maybe that was a little more than what we needed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer very grudgingly admits restricting seed sales during her endless lockdown orders &quot;maybe was a little more than we needed to do.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HMRe6oNPNl\">pic.twitter.com\/HMRe6oNPNl<\/a><\/p>&mdash; RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1635090396681236484?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whitmer\u2019s office even published a list of prohibited items<\/strong>&nbsp;deemed \u201cnot necessary to sustain or protect life,\u201d which couldn\u2019t be sold during the height of the pandemic, and which&nbsp;<strong>required that businesses physically restrict customers from certain areas of stores<\/strong>, or to remove nonessential items \u2013 including gardening items, flooring materials, furniture and paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Just weeks after Whitmer imposed the statewide controversial ban, the order was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/whitmer\/news\/state-orders-and-directives\/2020\/04\/24\/executive-order-2020-59\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rescinded<\/a>&nbsp;due to widespread backlash, including from the Institute for Justice.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In a letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/ij.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Letter-re-Michigan-Executive-Order-FINAL_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pdf<\/a>), the non-profit law firm criticized the governor\u2019s \u201cunconstitutional prohibition\u201d for \u201cimpeding the rights of the many Michigan families who seek to grow their own food.\u201d -Epoch Times<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Whitmer\u2019s order even banned travel from&nbsp;<strong>one residence to another<\/strong>, including vacation properties, rental properties, or second homes within the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/stuartbramhall.wordpress.com\/2023\/03\/14\/michigan-governor-admits-covid-19-lockdowns-went-too-far\/\">https:\/\/stuartbramhall.wordpress.com\/2023\/03\/14\/michigan-governor-admits-covid-19-lockdowns-went-too-far\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan Gov.
