President Joe Biden will see at least one primary challenger in the 2024 presidential election, with spiritual guru Marianne Williamson confirming that she will run against the 80-year-old president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Williamson, who ran unsuccessfully in the 2020 Democratic primary vowing to \u201charness love for political purposes\u201d \u2014 she endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders over Biden when she dropped out \u2014 once likened former President Donald Trump to \u201cMad King George,\u201d the British monarch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be running for president if I didn\u2019t believe I could contribute to harnessing the collective sensibility that I feel is our greatest hope at this time,\u201d Williamson told the Medill News Service, a Northwestern University-run media outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The best-selling author took issue with the Democratic National Committee altering the early presidential primary schedule, making Biden-friendly South Carolina the first state in the lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHow can you claim to be a champion of democracy when your own process is so undemocratic?\u201d Williamson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking to Twitter, Williamson teased \u201can important announcement\u201d to be made Saturday at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to begin a new chapter in American history, with enough of us willing to have a meaningful conversation about what we need to end now and what\u2019s struggling to be born,\u201d she tweeted. \u201cWhat needs to end is an era of corruption brought about by our second Gilded Age, an era in which corporate profits were placed before the safety, health and well being of people and planet. What needs to be born is an era in which we push back against such institutional abuse, return our government to one \u2018of the people, by the people, and for the people,\u2019 and replace soulless economic values with humanitarian values that honor us all and the earth on which we live.
