Ron DeSantis&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/business\/business-news\/desantis-signs-disney-reedy-creek-takeover-law-book-reveals-clash-rcna72478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed a bill into law<\/a>&nbsp;that ends Disney\u2019s self-governing power and puts the media giant\u2019s Florida property under the control of a state board appointed by the governor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the 1960s, Disney has been considered its own district, exempt from certain taxes and laws in the state of Florida.\u00a0Disney and DeSantis have previously<a href=\"https:\/\/straightarrownews.com\/cc\/desantis-disney-self-governance-dispute\/\">\u00a0been at odds<\/a>. A debate sparked between the two when Disney\u2019s former CEO Bob Chapek\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/straightarrownews.com\/cc\/from-right-leader-to-fired-in-5-months-why-disney-ousted-chapek-for-iger\/\">spoke out<\/a>\u00a0against a Florida bill that restricted classroom instruction on gender and sexual orientation.
