Women are sacrificing their own children for their careers and bragging about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview with the Virginia Dogwood<\/a>, Dr. Lisa Kaplowitz, a prominent Virginia doctor and Democrat official, said she never would have been successful in her career if she had not been able to have an abortion in 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBasically, if I had continued with that pregnancy, I would\u2019ve had to either give up my medical career or postpone it for a number of years,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although Kaplowitz was married and using birth control, she said she became pregnant anyway at age 23 while attending medical school at the University of Chicago. She told the Dogwood that she and her husband knew right away that they wanted an abortion. A baby would ruin her career plans, and they did not have family close by to help raise their child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled on Roe v. Wade<\/em> a year earlier, Kaplowitz said it was not difficult to find someone willing to do the abortion. She chose to abort her unborn baby for her medical career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kaplowitz eventually achieved the career success that she wanted. She worked as a doctor in Virginia and eventually served for the Virginia Department of Health and later the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Now, she is semi-retired and works occasionally as a consultant, according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
