Watch: Biden Brushes Bug Off Stephanie Abrams’ Chest During Weather Channel Interview

U.S. President Joe Biden has been figuratively brushing off reporters since winning the 2020 general election. Wednesday, Biden literally brushed off a Weather Channel reporter during a Wednesday interview.

Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams was trying to get the president to explain why he has not declared a climate crisis a national emergency. Biden reportedly spotted a bug crawling along the top of her chest.

“Oh, you’ve got a bug on you,” he told her before quickly reaching out and flicking the insect from her upper chest area.

“Thanks,” Abrams said, “appreciate it.” She quickly tried to turn the conversation back to climate change.

The president has been publicly chastised many times for his propensity to touch women through hugging, rubbing, caressing or sniffing their hair. He had previously vowed to be more mindful of personal spaces.

“I get it,” Biden said in 2019. “I hear what they’re saying, I understand it and I’ll be much more mindful.”

Just before the unexpected physical contact, Abrams asked Biden if he was prepared to declare a national emergency on climate change.

“Already done that,” Biden retorted. “Nationally, we’ve conserved more land, we’ve moved in to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord. We’ve passed the $360 billion climate control facility. We’re moving. It is the existential threat.”

A national emergency declaration would unlock temporary executive powers to ramp up renewable energy production, free federal funds for disaster relief and curb drilling and U.S. investment in fossil fuels.

“I want to stop all drilling on the East Coast and on the West Coast and on the Gulf,” Biden told the Weather Channel reporter. “I lost in court. But we’re still pushing very hard.”

Abrams pressed President Biden about his claims.

“So you’ve already declared that a national emergency?” asked Abrams.

“Well, practically speaking,” replied Biden, “Yes.”

The Weather Channel is a part of The Weather Company, a weather forecasting and IT firm that manages weather.com. Since 2016, it has been incorporated under IBM’s Watson & Cloud Platform.
